Gina Capelli is approaching 30. Still a virgin, well technically anyway. Vibrators don't count as lovers.. Embarrassed as hell about it, too. But damn if she hasn't always been too shy around guys. And being a bit overweight hasn't helped at all. Although her friends say she's vibrant, full of life and pulsing energy, and cute.

Cute. Yuk. She hates being cute. She wants to be vampy, alluring, mysterious. And that's exactly what she's going to be at the convention. A huge fan of BITE ME, the nighttime soap opera about vampires, she's decided to treat herself to an early birthday present and attend the convention in Las Vegas.

She wins a contest that gifts her with a ticket to the black tie ball showcasing the new season of Bite Me. It includes a formal dress, makeover and hairstyle. She's bound and determined that she's going to get laid tonight. The first guy who approaches her is the one.

And wouldn't it be nice if it could be Deacon Black, the sexy star of Bite Me? Master vampire, himself? Of course, that's just the role he plays on television.

Or is it?

Gina Capelli had waited an eternity to meet a vampire. Tonight her dream was finally going to come true.

Of course, the dream would be even more satisfying if she were to meet real vampires, but since they didn't exist, she'd have to satisfy herself with the people who played them on television.

What a great thirtieth birthday present! She'd come to Las Vegas intending to finally rid herself of her unwanted virginity. Since the Bite Me television show was having their annual fan convention here, it seemed like a perfect opportunity to combine a birthday treat to herself as well as find someone willing to help her out with the virginity problem.

Her virginity was just a technicality anyway. Years of vibrators had long ago taken care of whatever barrier had been there. But an actual man inside her? She hadn't experienced that.

Yet.

This weekend, she would. Come hell or high water, she'd find a man willing to make love to her, even if she had to sell her soul to the devil to do it.

So maybe she wasn't a movie star. And maybe she did carry around a few extra pounds. She was simply voluptuous, that's all. And if a man wanted a woman with some flesh he could actually hold on to, then she was his gal.

Gina brushed her hand over the velvet gown and turned once again to examine herself in the mirror. She shook her head, unable to believe the transformation.

She'd nearly fallen on the convention hall floor today when they'd announced her name as the grand prize winner in the Bite Me fan contest. She'd thought there'd be no way to get into the private, black tie ball tonight But winning the changed that.

The whole day had been like a dream come true. Starting with a massage, a makeover, a designer gown and a limo ride to the hotel, culminating in a front row table at the Bite Me invitation-only party with the cast and crew.

She felt like Cinderella. And now, standing in the ladies room outside the ballroom, nervous butterflies pounding away at her stomach, she glanced in the mirror and for the first time in her life actually felt like the enchanted princess.

The red velvet gown hugged her curves, accentuated her cleavage and with its puffy sleeves which dropped off her shoulders, made her look damn sexy.

And damn sexy was not how she typically described herself.

She was a secretary in a law office. She wore pantsuits, not ball gowns. And she never, ever, got dressed up to go out.

Not like she ever had much opportunity anyway. Guys just didn't go for her. She didn't know why, and had long ago gave up worrying about it.

But she damn well would not die a virgin.

Tonight would take care of that. Surely somewhere in that ballroom where a few hundred people gathered, there'd be one man who wanted to take her for a ride on the magic carpet mattress.

She smoothed back her hair, pleased with the way the stylist had curled her long, raven tresses in sexy little waves. And the makeup accentuated her violet eyes. For a frumpy, fat Italian girl, she didn't look too bad.

"Okay, Gina. Can't hide in the bathroom all night. Get out there and find yourself a man."

"BITE ME is a shortie, but goodie and you will probably get through it in one sitting. Deacon is the sexy star and has instant charisma where the ladies are concerned. Gina is tired of being a virgin and sees Deacon as the perfect man to relieve her of it, in the process she gets more than she bargained for. The sexual tension is high and sure to keep the reader turning the pages. I highly recommend this book!"

"This is Jaci Burton's first vampire story and boy does she know how to do vampires! I want my own Deacon Black! What a sexy, charming, masterful specimen of a vampire he is. Gina is the kind of heroine that I can really relate too. You just can't help but love her. She's funny, knows what she wants, and isn't afraid to go after it. I also love that she's a full figured woman and I especially love that Deacon is attracted to her even more because she is. This may be a quickie but it doesn't feel like one and I was a very satisfied reader by the end. Jaci Burton is an expert at drawing you in to her stories and making you feel what the characters are feeling and this story is no exception. Like all her other stories, this one is a definite keeper. I hope Ms. Burton has more vampire stories in the works because she certainly has a hit with this one."

"Bite Me is a short story that I read straight through. Jaci Burton creates a compelling situation with characters that draw the reader into the story. Gina is a woman on a mission but she also has interesting internal dialogue that keeps her from being just a gal on the prowl for sex. Deacon is the debonair vampire who smolders with lust and centuries of experience. He seems to be Gina's perfect solution for a memorable introduction to sex, but when he realizes his true feelings for Gina he has a serious dilemma. It makes what might have been a one dimensional story both touching and tender. And oh yeah, he's hot! He knocked Gina's socks off and the feeling's mutual. This was a surprising and very satisfying little vampire story."
